The Indian army is the lead-based and largest component of the Indian armed forces. The Indian army originated from the armies of the East India Company, which finally became the British Indian army day and finally the national army after independence 15th August 1947.

Army day marks a day to salute the valiant soldiers who sacrificed their lives to protect the country and its citizens. In 1942, k.m. Chariappa becomes the first Indian army officer who was passed on the command a unit.


At this day a great Indian army parade takes place which generally starts from the Vijay Chowk and ends at India gate Delhi(India). Indian army(army, navy and air force) salutes the President of India while they are parading on the Rajpath. Indian army display the power of India through the parade and by demonstrating all the great inventions like tanks and big guns. after the army parades, many new invention types of machinery, every states of India shows their thanks for displaying their culture and tradition. After that, a tricolor national flag colors like saffron, green and flowers showering takes place in the sky by the airplanes.

Indian army plays a great and big role during the disaster situations and many other situations in the country as they are dedicated to the country to become the war-winning team. The day was decided to be celebrated as the army day in India to start paying tribute to sacrificed Indian army soldiers at the 'Amar jawan Jyoti' at India gate in New Delhi. 

In December 1971, the battle of longwall was fought between India and Pakistan. This battle is interesting and confident for army because with the just 120 Indian soldiers and a jeep with m40 recoilless rifle stood its ground against 2000 Pakistani soldiers. While the Indians soldiers held come to their war place all through the night, help from the air force came only in the morning.

Students celebrate Indian army day in the schools and colleges by organizing great events like parade, flag unfolding, singing national anthem, read the speech, play roles of freedom fighter, dance singing, drama play, helping in the social campaign, quiz competitions, essay writing, poster display, magic, comedy activities, etc. On this day every Indian should take an oath to make this country a peaceful and developed country. In the end, every student gets sweet and napkin and goes home happy.


The day is celebrated to honor and peaceful our country's soldiers who set the greatest example of selfless services and brotherhood, and above all, love and sacrifices for the country. We are proud to say that the Indian army is one of the most powerful millitries in the world. Competing with superpowers like us, Russia and China.

 Some of the iconic victories of India that face many situations like include Kargil war, Siachen conflict, Chola incident, the liberation of goa, liberation of Dadra and Nagar haveli,2nd and 3rd indo park war, indo sino conflict of 1967 and major operations are undertaken by the Indian army are 'Operation Vijay','operation meghdoot', and 'operation cactus'.
